This Super Bowl commercial offered us an opportunity to examine implied meanings in words and phrases in class. After our discussion what are your final thoughts on this topic?
In the spirt of October, we read a New York Times article published about taxes being placed on Witches in Romania. We explained the viewpoints of the witches and the government. We talked about the role of government in societies and the obligations of its citizens. We tried to decide if making a limited amount of money should qualify you to not have to pay taxes or if every citizen should be responsible to pay their due share. Lastly, we talked about how it might relate to our lives here in the United States and people in similar situations. Yet when we stopped class, we had more questions and thoughts to share. Weigh in now: Do you still feel the same way about the witches, government, and taxation as you did at the start of our seminar verses at the end? How have your thoughts grown or even changed?
