I personally got to work with the Helium Hula Hoop and had a blast. The goal is to lower the hula to the ground without letting your fingers lose contact with the hoop. This proved quite difficult and the name is very fitting as students found the hoop seemed to rise up into the air rather than going down. For this activity to work, students really needed to trust each other.
Land Skis consisted of skis made out of 2 X 4s. The skis had ropes attached and students were required to work together as a team to move the skis to the turnaround and back. This activity seemed to work for those students who were willing to fall in to a team. It requred everyone involved to lift a ski at the same time or it would not work. We ended up celebrating our successes and failures with a lot of falling and a lot of laughing. Did I mention falling?
After the Team Building trip I feel so good about my class! I am so happy to have gotten to know each of my students better and to have had such a great shared experience. My goal for the year is to continue getting to know them and find out more about each student which will in turn help me support them.
